Walton Chung

Walton’s passion for martial arts started as a child, studying Kung Fu (Wushu) under the Bak Mei style. Acknowledging his love for movement, Walton went on to learn breakdancing and continued to do so for 5 years. During that time, Walton gained an exceptional understanding of dynamic body movements, mechanics and rhythm. Finally in 2008, being inspired from watching videos of his favourite mixed martial arts fighter, Shinya Aoki, Walton returned to martial arts to train Jiu-jitsu under Professor Josh Russell of Gracie Barra Calgary. Since then, he has never looked back. Walton has been able to seamlessly combine the technical concepts/techniques from BJJ with the dynamic body movements and mechanics he had previously acquired from breakdancing. His passion for training, competing, and teaching Jiu Jitsu has taken him across Canada, California, and even to Rio De Janeiro. Today, Walton lives the Jiu Jitsu lifestyle the best he can, hopping back and forth between Chung Bros Martial Arts (a school he started with his brother) and Gracie Barra Calgary to train and teach.
